PCRS Bursary Prize – PCC 2027

PCRS Members are able to apply for funding support to attend the Palliative Care Congress. One Bursary Prize per year is offered, up to a maximum claim of £250. PCC 2027 – Bursary Information

The application process

 

Submit an abstract to the PCC, via their website

Deadline: 16 October 2026

Submit your PCC Bursary Prize Application Form to the PCRS

Deadline: 29 November 2026

Outcome of the application to the PCRS will be advised

Who is eligible?
  • At the time of the application and Congress attendance, you must be a member of the PCRS
  • There can only be one application per member, per year
  • Anyone who has received a bursary from the PCRS in the past is not eligible to apply
  • The applicant must be an author on the abstract submitted to the PCC
    NOTE: You do not have to be the listed first or presenting author on the submission.
Details about the prize

There will be one Bursary Prize awarded and the winner will receive:

Up to a maximum of £250 towards attendance costs:

  • The winner will receive a contribution towards registration, travel and/ or accommodation costs
    (Please note: this amount is unlikely to cover all your expenses for attending the conference)
  • This does not cover first class air or train travel.
Abstract review process
  • Please note, a successful PCC abstract submission does not guarantee the PCRS Bursary Prize will be offered
  • To be clear, all fully completed PCC Bursary Prize applications will be considered but only one prize will be awarded in a competitive process
  • The Bursary Prize will only be considered for abstracts accepted for PCC 2027. Your abstract will be assessed upon:
    • Hypotheses or Research Question(s)
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Relevance and potential future impact.
Terms and Conditions
  • The PCRS prize cannot be transferred to a co-author
  • The maximum amount available is £250. This amount is unlikely to fully fund your conference attendance so support from other sources may be required.
  • You must be a member of the PCRS to apply
  • The recipient will be responsible for processing their own registration and booking their own travel and accommodation, including any relevant insurance
  • Standard procedure is for costs to be reimbursed post event attendance and upon receipt of an expense claim form with corresponding receipts.

Make sure a co-author on your abstract is a member of the PCRS and then submit your PCRS Bursary Application Form Deadline: 29 November 2026
Outcome of the PCRS application process January 2027
Who is eligible?
  • At the time of the application, you must be a registered undergraduate student at a UK university
  • You will be required to provide proof of undergraduate student status. Postgraduate students are not eligible to apply for this prize.
  • Anyone who has received a bursary from the Palliative Care Society in the past is not eligible to apply.
  • The PCRS undergraduate prize applicant must be an author on the submitted abstract and at least one co-author should be a member of the PCRS. NOTE: You do not have to be the presenting author.
Details about the prize

The winner of the PCRS EAPC undergraduate prize will receive:

  • EAPC 2027 Conference registration and travel expenses, up to a maximum of £500
  • The PCRS will cover the cost of student registration for the EAPC 2027 in Glasgow
  • The student will receive a contribution towards travel, accommodation and subsistence costs
    (Please note: this amount is unlikely to cover all your expenses for attending the conference)
  • This does not cover first class air or train travel.
  • One year’s free membership to the Palliative Care Research Society (PCRS)
Abstract review process

Please note, a successful EAPC abstract submission does not guarantee the PCRS undergraduate prize will be offered.
All fully completed PCRS undergraduate prize applications will be considered but only one prize will be awarded in a competitive process.
The PCRS undergraduate prize will only be considered for abstracts accepted for the EAPC 2027. Your abstract will be assessed upon:

  • Hypotheses or Research Question(s)
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Relevance and potential future impact
Terms and Conditions
  • The PCRS prize cannot be transferred to a co-author. At least one co-author must be a member of the PCRS.
  • The total amount available is £500, this includes the conference registration fee. This amount will not fully fund your conference attendance so support from other sources will be required.
  • The recipient will be responsible for arranging any necessary travel insurance.
  • If the prize winner does not attend the EAPC after the PCRS has funded registration and/or expenses, the recipient will be required to reimburse the Society unless there are exceptional reasons for non-attendance.
  • PCRS will work with the winner to complete the Congress registration process and settle early bird student registration fees.
  • The remaining balance will be available to support travel, accommodation and/or subsistence.
  • Standard procedure is that costs will be reimbursed after expenditure upon the PCRS receiving an expense claim form and receipts. The PCRS recognises this may not always be possible and will consider prospective claims on a case-by-case basis.
